Woman Finds Flexible Side Job for Additional Income and Family Time
One of the biggest reasons people look for flexible work is because they want a job that doesn’t interfere with family time. Whether that’s a first job or a side gig, having the flexibility to balance work and family remains important for job seekers.
That’s exactly what Tess V. was looking for in a second job. She was already working part-time but wanted a second job to help her generate more income. And she didn’t want to sacrifice time with her kids to get that.
In search of a flexible job that would let her balance two jobs, two young daughters, and bring in more money, Tess joined FlexJobs.
More Than Part-Time Without Losing Time
She found a remote job as a freelance stylist at Modsy. Even with two part-time jobs, Tess has not only achieved her goal of making more money, she’s doing it without missing out on spending time with her daughters.
“I’m able to have the benefits of a working mom and a stay-at-home mom.”
No Judgment, Just More Family Time
Thanks to a flexible schedule, Tess doesn’t have to sacrifice family time to earn more money. “I can be with them as much as possible,” she says. “I love that I can work while they’re sleeping and play with them when they’re awake!”
And, she doesn’t have to sacrifice income to spend more time with her family. Bringing in the additional money “is going to be huge for my family!” As a bonus benefit, because she works from home, she also “rocks a mom bun” and doesn’t “feel judged for wearing the pants my one-year-old wiped applesauce on.”
The Perfect Match Is out There
Tess really appreciated the ability to filter her job search results when she searched for open positions on FlexJobs. “I needed something that didn’t require a phone (noisy children and dogs) or regular hours. I needed something I could do on my own time. I really filtered out a lot of options based on what exactly I was looking for.”
By narrowing her search results to jobs that offered what she wanted, then tailoring her resume and cover letter to the jobs, Tess was able to find a job in a competitive field—the arts. She is “impressed and thankful” for FlexJobs and “would absolutely recommend it. It’s totally worth investigating!”
