Success Story: Woman Finds Remote Dream Job
Laura S. was tired of her long commute. It was stressing her out, and she had minimal time for her familhy.
Searching for something that would provide more flexibility, Laura joined FlexJobs.
A changing job leads to a move.
When Laura joined FlexJobs, her job search wasn’t intense at first. However, during her 10 months as a FlexJobs member, her “job responsibilities kept changing and were pulling me away from my strengths,” she said. “So, it was time to make a move.”
Laura started researching companies and positions on FlexJobs. The information helped her tailor her resume each time she applied for a job. It also helped her more effectively network on LinkedIn. Unlike other sites, Laura found FlexJobs’ job postings more reliable than other job sites. She notes that on FlexJobs, “The jobs are vetted.”
Less stress means more success.
Eventually, Laura found her “dream job” at GP Strategies as a marketing copywriter. Now Laura spends more time with her family and works 100% remotely from “where I please!”
Laura is less stressed, which she believes will lead to greater success. And she believes it will make her a more productive employee. Without the crushing commute, Laura says she’ll be able to contribute more to her new company.
“I won’t be in a rush in the morning,” she said, adding that she “won’t be in a rush to leave to pick up my son at daycare.”
Perhaps the best part of her new job?
“I’m not losing a penny in salary,”she says.
Laura advises other job seekers to “keep at it,” which is always good advice. Patience and persistence are the keys to a successful job search.
“A big thank you for what you do!” she says to FlexJobs. “I wouldn’t have found this dream job otherwise.”
