Man Finds Time to Homeschool Kids with Flexible Job
After 11 years as a full-time employee, Joseph R. found himself laid off from work. Choosing to make lemonade out of lemons, Joseph and his wife decided to homeschool their two boys.
While Joseph spends the majority of his day teaching his kids, he also teaches others, thanks to a fully remote job with a flexible schedule.
Not a Believer at First
Initially, Joseph was skeptical about working a flexible schedule remotely. But, finding a job at Cambly as an English tutor changed his mind. “I was skeptical about the ability to not only work a flexible schedule, but also to do so remotely.”
Not only was Joseph homeschooling his kids, but he’s also working on his bachelor’s degree in IT. Fortunately, he found that a “flex job makes it easy for me to work in the mornings and late nights when the children are sleeping.” A part-time, flexible job allows Joseph to teach and learn without giving up work.
Plenty of Opportunities
When Joseph joined FlexJobs, he quickly learned that a FlexJobs membership was “absolutely a great value for the cost.” He goes on to say, “The opportunities are a lot more abundant than you’d think.”
Joseph found that the best tactic was to tailor his resumes and cover letters to make them company and industry-specific. Now, Joseph can manage all the responsibilities in his life.
According to Joseph, he says that working remotely “enables a greater degree of freedom for us to manage our days around what works best for our family,” he says, “rather than trying to fit our life around a job.”
